Heat Pumps · Install & Service

One system that heats and cools — even here.

Cold-climate heat pumps have quietly become a real option for Aurora: efficient cooling in July, real heat in January, and utility rebates that can take a serious bite out of the cost.

Know the signs

Is a heat pump right for your house?

The honest checklist we walk through with homeowners:

Your AC and furnace are both aging

Replacing one box instead of two is where heat pump economics shine.

You want to cut gas use

A heat pump moves heat instead of making it — dramatically more efficient on mild winter days, which Aurora has plenty of.

You have solar, or plan to

Electric heating pairs naturally with rooftop solar production.

Some rooms are always the wrong temperature

Ductless mini-split heads can fix problem rooms without touching the rest of the system.

You’re replacing a swamp cooler

A very common Aurora upgrade path — ditch the cooler, gain real cooling plus efficient shoulder-season heat.

You want rebate money

Between Xcel Energy programs and federal incentives, qualifying systems can come back with meaningful savings. We’ll point you at what’s current.

The local angle

The cold-climate question, answered honestly

The old knock on heat pumps — "they don’t work below freezing" — is outdated. Modern cold-climate units hold capacity well below 0°F, and Aurora’s winter profile (cold snaps, yes, but lots of sunny 40° days) plays to their strengths. For the coldest stretches, we design dual-fuel setups that hand off to a gas furnace automatically.

We’ll never push the technology where it doesn’t fit. If your house, ductwork, or budget says conventional furnace-plus-AC, we’ll say so and quote that instead. The goal is the right system, not the fashionable one.

Questions

Heat Pumps: straight answers.

Will a heat pump keep up in a January cold snap?+
A properly sized cold-climate unit will, and dual-fuel designs have gas backup for the extremes. Sizing at altitude matters — that’s the part we obsess over.
What about rebates?+
Programs change, but Xcel Energy and federal incentives have both recently offered substantial rebates on qualifying heat pumps. We’ll tell you what’s currently available and what paperwork is involved.
Can you service my existing heat pump?+
Yes — repair and maintenance on all major heat pump brands, ducted or ductless. Call (888) 217-1674.
